Specialist title transition period for WA psychologists is ending

17 Oct 2013

When the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme began in Western Australia on 18 October 2010 some psychologists who held specialist title registration with the previous Board were allowed to continue using the title 'specialist' under a transition provision allowed for in section 281 of the National Law.

Today is the last day of the transition period; from tomorrow (18 October 2013) use of the title ‘specialist’ by any psychologist in Australia is an offence under section 118 of the National Law.

The Board has previously agreed to review the issue of specialist registration once national criteria for assessing submissions from professions seeking specialist recognition under the National Law become available.
