The goal of a national registration and accreditation scheme was realised on 18 October 2010 when Western Australia joined the scheme and for the first time all psychologists in Australia were included on a single register. This meant that it became possible to produce accurate reports on the total number of psychologists registered in Australia.
In November 2010 the Psychology Board of Australia released the first national registration data profiling Australia’s psychology workforce including a number of statistical breakdowns about registrants. The Board regularly shares this statistical data with the profession and the community. To view the registration data, click on the links in the tables below.
National registration data for other health professions is available from the individual board websites - click on the drop down list at the top of the page to access them.
Additional statistics are also published in the Ahpra annual report.
Further information about health practitioner statistics and access to data for education, planning and research purposes is also available on the AHPRA Data access and research page.
